Chengdu and Chongqing Itinerary: A 6-Day Planning Guide

Six days can support a city-focused Chengdu–Chongqing plan if you protect the transfer and flight days. This is a planning example, not the published six-day scenic product, which includes Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong.

Which city should come first?

Start with your real arrival and departure flights. Chengdu first can put the panda visit early; Chongqing first can suit a traveller who wants to begin with its neighbourhoods and night views. Neither direction is automatically cheaper or faster. Decide after checking your flights, hotel bases and available intercity connection.

With limited time, keep one city as the first base and the other as the final base. Returning to your starting city creates another transfer unless the flights require it. If the departure airport changes, recheck the last hotel night before settling the order.

A six-day city-focused outline

This outline starts in Chengdu and ends in Chongqing; reverse the blocks if your flights point the other way. Keep the intercity move as its own block. It is a suggested way to discuss a custom route, not a promise of tickets, guiding or an operating departure.

  1. Day 1: arrive in Chengdu, check in and keep the remaining time flexible.
  2. Day 2: plan the panda visit, then choose a nearby city block rather than stacking distant stops.
  3. Day 3: give Chengdu another city day or replace it with one separately assessed excursion.
  4. Day 4: transfer to Chongqing; allow for luggage, station access and hotel check-in.
  5. Day 5: group Chongqing sights by neighbourhood and walking demands; reserve a separate evening view if wanted.
  6. Day 6: leave time for the correct departure airport or station; do not count it as another full sightseeing day.

Make the transfer and hotel bases work

Choose a hotel area that matches the next day's plans, then confirm the exact departure and arrival stations before buying rail tickets. The station-to-hotel legs, luggage and check-in all use time; the train ride alone is not the whole transfer. Check the official railway site for the actual date and the document you will use.

Chongqing's slopes and stairs can change the effort of an apparently short walk. If someone in your group has mobility needs or heavy luggage, describe them in the enquiry. A car, a guide and a driver-guide are different arrangements; scope and language require confirmation.

What changes if you add Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong?

The published six-day Chongqing–Chengdu product includes Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. It is a different, more transfer-heavy journey than this two-city outline. Do not assume the city days above and every scenic stop from that product can fit into the same six calendar days.

If scenery is a priority, study the published product's actual sequence and overnight bases, then ask which city time would be exchanged and which parts need confirmation. If the two cities themselves are the priority, keep the scenic extension for a longer, separately assessed journey.

Questions and a useful next step

Is this six-day city itinerary a bookable group tour? No. It is a planning example for a custom enquiry. The existing six-day product has its own scenic stops; a city-only arrangement needs an individual proposal.

Should you choose a guide or a car? A guide can help with interpretation, a car can help with movement and luggage, and a driver-guide combines roles only within confirmed scope. Neither service should be assumed to include every attraction or reservation.

Send your dates, arrival and departure cities, group size, luggage or mobility needs, interests and language preference. Chinese and English consultation is available; the actual on-tour language and inclusions are confirmed in the quote.
